The last time that Jeff Fultz headed to a Super Late Model race in Florida, he walked away from the famous Snowball Derby with a top 10 finish. This weekend, his luck wasn’t quite as good at USA International Speedway for the Speedfest event, but he was still able to walk out of the track with a top-15 finish.
“We had a decent car, we didn’t have a good weekend but it was a decent one,” said Fultz.” We had a lot better car than 14th, that is why I am a little bit disappointed. We had an incident on Friday night, we got caught up in an accident that cause us to blow a tire.”
Despite the incident in the preliminary North 100-lap race, Fultz and his team were able to work on their car and get it ready for the following day’s main event.
“We all worked as hard as we could all night long until about three in the morning and then we were back at the track at 8pm. We got the car pretty fast and we qualified really good on Saturday. When they dropped the green it seemed like
we had really good car. The rain really threw everyone for a whirl and they gave us a pit stop. We only took left side tires and everyone else took right sides. I expected a yellow pretty quick and then we were planning on coming in and get our right sides. We didn’t get a yellow for a while and we ended up going a lap down. I got back up to the leader, but Ben Rowe was so fast, I could run with him, I just couldn’t get past him. I couldn’t get my lap back. And the race just ran out. “
Fultz will be back on the track in February for the Early Bird event February 24th-25th at Birmingham International Raceway.
