Jeff Fultz Gets Back to His Roots at USA International Speedway
Past Lakeland Winner Returns to SpeedFest in a Straight Rail Car
Jeff Fultz is no stranger to Lakeland, Florida.  In fact, if you ask most short track experts throughout the country, they might all say that Fultz knows a thing or two about USA International Speedway in Lakeland that other racers don’t.  That is a good thing too, because Fultz will be heading there next week to compete in Speedfest.

“I really looking forward to heading down to Lakeland,” said Fultz.  “You know, we are pretty pumped up to go down there.  It feels like we have been out of the seat for awhile now.  I am going to be driving the same car that I ran at the Snowball Derby and Nashville, Curtis Venable’s stuff.  We are just going to go down there, and see what we can do.  Curtis loves racing those straight rails (Super Late Model) cars.”

The team owner isn’t the only one who loves it either.

“I love racing Late Models too, and with the All Pro series gone, it gives me the opportunity to do that when Curtis lets me drive his car.  It doesn’t take away from my Pro Cup deal and it keeps me in the seat a little bit more than I would be otherwise.”

Fultz has plenty of experience on tracks all throughout the country, and Lakeland is one that he looks forward going back to each and every time.

“I really like Lakeland.  I have won there a few times and we have always been good there in the All Pro car.  We were really good there last time in a straight rail, and then I just ended up getting caught in a first lap wreck and it destroyed my car.

Sometimes what a racer needs on the track doesn’t just come from what you put into the car.  Sometimes you just need a little bit of luck.  That is what Fultz is hoping for as he goes to Speedfest this time.

Fultz will be back in the red #54 at Lakeland.
“If the car is as good as it was the last couple of races, and we don’t have any problems, we really have a shot at winning the thing,” added Fultz.  “It would be really good for Curtis and those guys, they haven’t won a race in a little while so hopefully we can go down there and win that race together.    We are running three cars down there, so I will have two teammates Chuck Barnes Jr. and Clay Jones, so hopefully we can put one of us three in victory lane, it would be really good for Curtis’ team.”

For the 2007 season Fultz will once again be competing full time in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, which will also open their season at USA International Speedway in March.   Fultz sees this extra seat time on the track as an added bonus that should help his Pro Cup efforts this season.

The Speedfest event at USA International Speedway will get underway January 25th and wrap up on January 27th
