Myrtle Beach A Familiar Place To "Fultzy"
JCR3 Team Has Many Wins At Track In All Pro / Southeast Car
Myrtle Beach Speedway is a track that Jeff Fultz and his JCR3 Racing dominated when racing the NASCAR Southeast Series (formerly the NASCAR All Pro Series). But when “Fultzy” heads back to the Beach this weekend, he won’t be going as a former NASCAR series champion, he will be going as USAR Hooters Pro Cup Rookie.
“I like that the asphalt on the track,” said Fultz. “It’s worn out and old. It’s just one of the places that we have always excelled on. We really struggled back there in 1997, 1998 and 1999. From 2000 on though, we really hit on something and we found what we like on the flatter tracks with the All Pro cars.”
The Pro Cup Southern Division has been off for awhile (since June 3rd) and, as they get their season back underway this weekend at the Beach, Fultz hopes that the return to a track he has dominated will be a turn around for his rookie year.
“We are hoping this will be the turning point for us. We had a really good car at Lakeland. We got the pole and we led a lot of laps. We were just kind of pacing ourselves for the end of the race and then we lost the alternator in the race and that
killed the battery. We’ve had a lot of bad luck like that this year.
“The Pro Cup cars are so different than the All Pro cars, so each track we go to is like our first time at that place even though we have a lot of laps at most of these track.”
The USAR Hooters Pro Cup Southern Division’s Aaron’s 250 takes place this Saturday June 24th, at 7:30 pm at Myrtle Beach Speedway. The race will air on Speed Channel on Wednesday, June 28th at 7pm and Friday June 30th at 12:00 pm.
